How To Fix A Doll's Broken Neck Peg

How to fix a broken Monster High doll neck peg…

and make the heads easy to switch!

For a while I've wanted to brand a doll that had ii heads, the same character just with different expressions that you could switch out. Like faceplates on a BJD. To do that though, it has to be piece of cake to remove and put on the heads without damaging the faceup. This is a method I came upwards with to solve that trouble. You can also use it even if you lot don't intendance about switching heads dorsum and forth, simply the neck peg on your doll has broken. I can't guarantee it'll work perfectly for you, merely here are my results anyhow!

I had previously used wire and epoxy putty to try and imitate a CAM neck peg on a Lagoona. It was functional, merely not very pretty and a real hurting in the ass to do! You tin see the sad result here…

Yesterday, I suddenly had a much meliorate idea! So I tested information technology out on a Abbey, and information technology worked wonderfully. Yay! :)

You'll demand your doll, an exacto knife, two office epoxy gel, a wooden dewdrop but a piddling smaller than the neck bulb (a little less than a cm), and a strong wooden dowel that fits into the bead exactly. And if you lot wish it to be prettier, paint to lucifer your dolls skin color.

First remove the anchor entirely. Sorry, I don't have pictures of this… I only used my exacto knife to cutting through the base and pulled information technology off with pliers. You'll be left with something like this…

and you lot'll need to cutting that bar out too, so the dowel tin get further down the neck for stability. It's difficult to cut through, be careful non to cut yourself! It should now expect like this, and will be much easier from now on.

Now take your forest dowel and rough up the sides with your knife. And so using some of your two part epoxy, glue the wooden bead onto the dowel, similar this.

Now, if you desire, yous can paint this to friction match your doll. I did this both times, as information technology looks more streamlined and pretty much appears exactly like a CAM from a altitude.

And then cut your dowel so it fit down the neck, leaving the dewdrop a couple of mm from the neck. You don't want the dewdrop touching the neck! All you have to do now is mix upward more than epoxy, fill the cervix with it, and push button the dowel into the cervix. I too put the epoxy all over the dewdrop too, for a stronger bond and and so the paint would not rub off. Keep in listen that you have to leave a gap.

All done! Allow the epoxy fully cure earlier trying information technology out, or you gamble pulling out the dowel and bead.

Let me know if y'all try this out or if you have whatsoever questions!

And delight do non repost this anywhere without linking dorsum here. Thanks! :D
